Movement and Rhythm Series | paper art reliefs | 2020
I am always looking at paper for new possibilities within this paper art reliefs. The artworks of my recent Movement & Rhythm Series 2020 are the result of spontaneous experimenting. This series consists of various contemporary art reliefs formed through a layering, merging, and overlapping technique. This year I have enriched my color pallet with earthly colors, next to the use of grays, blues, white and black. The intricate, organic repetition dominates these artworks, where I assemble hundreds of individually hand-torn pieces of paper and combine them into rhythmic compositions.
Within these “paper tiles,” I give viewers an abstraction of nature and stimulate their imagination to find maybe waves of the sea or a breeze moving dune grass or layers of shells. Each image has movement and rhythm, seeking to inspire an emotional response from its viewer.
As a continuation of the Movement and Rhythm Series from 2018 and 2019, this year’s Series, I have created additional paper art reliefs that are part of the Freshpaint online catalog. Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the Freshpaint art fair was postponed; as a beautiful initiative to support the well-being of Israeli artists, they created an online catalog. I am honored to be included in the Freshpaint family!
