my Sketchbook - paper art sketches
Severijns began collecting her paper art sketches in “My Sketchbook”. She considers this art-journal as a playground for possible new beginnings. It offers an opportunity for inspirational new try-outs of her paper shredding techniques. She can play around freely and even throw sewing, folding, painting, embroidery and cutting into the mix. The sketches collected in “My Sketchbook” can be awkward, even ugly, but also wildly beautiful. Some are layered paper surfaces that draw the eye inwards and beg to be touched, while others reflect her interest in patterns and rhythms. Most of her paper art sketches stay abstract and don’t connect to the real world. With these sketches Severijns’ emphasis is on her intuitive search and experimentation. The freedom of experimenting with her own techniques and exploring the depth of paper. Her sketchbook is a fantastic tool for enriching her art.
