    2025 | Eucalyptus Bark no.2 | Pacific Grove, California, USA

    Commissioned by V. Margheim of Hospitality Purchasing Consultants (HPC), this bespoke paper artwork was created by Severijns for the Kimpton Pacific Grove luxury boutique hotel in the United States. The work draws inspiration from her earlier piece Eucalyptus Bark (2021), a tribute to the majestic Eucalyptus trees that surround her home in Israel.

     

    The tree’s peeling bark, rich color transitions, and tactile surfaces became a poetic metaphor for transformation and renewal. Through her signature technique of hand-torn and hand-formed paper, Severijns translates these natural textures into an abstract composition that fuses fragility with strength.

     

    This commission reflects her ongoing dialogue between art and nature, celebrating the essence of place and the universal cycles of change.

    Created for a private residence in Jerusalem, Earth Skin No. 5 and Landscape are inspired by the timeless meeting of beach cliffs and desert horizons. These abstract works capture the essence of nature’s shifting textures and rhythms. In a palette of earthy tones—beige, terra, and light browns—hand-torn paper layered with acrylic paint and bound with konjac glue forms sculptural surfaces that echo earth’s raw beauty. Commissioned through art consultant Maya Livnat Hurush, the pieces invite contemplation and connection to landscape.

    This commission reunited Bikaku Studio and Severijns once again to collaborate on a joint artwork, Flow. OM Interior Design Studio suggested that the owners of their new private residence in the Tel Aviv area visit Severijns' studio. They both fell in love with the artwork “Heavy-Light” (2020) from the Sentiments of Change series, which was hanging in Severijns’ studio. The use of two materials with contrasting physical properties appealed to the young couple—the hardness of industrial iron versus the fragility of paper.  This artwork was too small for their 7-meter-high wall. A new challenge and a new commission gave rise to Flow, comprising three pieces that form a single artwork. For Severijns, it was a great honor to work with these lovely clients and Bikaku Studio.

    It is always a tremendous pleasure when the art consultant duo “Two Curators” visits my studio with clients, this time with the most enthusiastic client. The client told me that she only collects art that moves her soul. She commissioned me to create an artwork for her new residence in Tel Aviv, situated on the Mediterranean Sea.  The artwork “Where Earth Meets the Sea” is the result of this commission.

    A sweet family in France commissioned two artworks. The artwork Cuddle was a present for their granddaughter's first birthday. Buying a baby a piece of art is unique! The Nesting series from 2016 was created when Severijns started her artistic journey with paper. This series inspired the commissioned artwork Nesting 2023.

     Severijns collaborates with art consultants, interieur, and architctural designers. Yonathan Schneider Studio frequently visits my studio with his clients. The commissioned artwork Blues was a result of a successful studio visit. Blues found its way to a lovely private residence near the Polag beach.

    This law firm office is a beautifully designed, impressive space. Severijns believes in close collaboration and open communication with her clients; the dialogue inspires new creative ideas. These delightful conversations inspired the artworks Cliff, Yellow Bark, and Urban Patterns.

    Yellowstone is breathtakingly beautiful. Its wild nature and dramatic colors change with the sun's angle and through the season. It is nature’s work of art and an incredible inspiration for my paper art. The house faces the national park. 

    The design studio sent Severijns a mood board with color schemes and photos of their chosen furniture as inspiration. She had never worked with these colors before, which was challenging. The entire process was enjoyable, a wonderful path to discovery she may not have taken otherwise.

    2021 Sea Swirls | For a private home | Florida USA

    Sea Swirls is a commissioned artwork for an exquisite private home in South Florida, USA. The owners are paper art collectors. The blues of the surrounding seas—the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico—inspired the colors used for this artwork. The sea swirls are felt in its fluidity, flow, movement, and rhythm.
