Tapestry Series | 2016
Severijns has developed her own unique artistic style based on hand-torn paper, using multi-layering technique and monochrome acrylic color. Her art begins with virginal white paper, on its way to becoming something else. In the “Tapestry Series” Severijns uses a Japanese root glue, Konjac, which enables her to develop a tapestry paper technique where the background canvas is totally deleted. The uniqueness of Konjac is that the paper can be woven, folded, merged and manipulated without influencing the paper quality. During the creative process of the “Tapestry Series” new possibilities have unfolded themselves.
